Amar: Day 3 in Hospital
Today we were hoping that Amar would be deemed suitable for discharge by the surgeons. Unfortunately the surgeon who reviewed Amar said that the infection was quite "nasty", and that Amar needs to stay for at least until tomorrow. In comparison, everyone else in the ward was discharged yesterday and today.
I suppose Amar's infection was serious.
Today when we saw Amar, I'm happy to report he's back to his normal self. His normal "heft" has returned when I lifted him, and he was actively running around and laughing with Sarah. According to Nisa, Amar rarely if ever, cried today -- and he is not even taking any painkillers!
His left hand is still heavily bandaged, so I did not catch a glimpse of the wound after the operation. Nisa said there's an open gash and it looks horrible, however, I cannot verify this myself without looking. But Alhamdulillah, we are very grateful that Amar is much, much better.
Hopefully he'll be suitable for discharge tomorrow. I'm really looking forward for both Nisa and Amar to come home. Nisa sends her love and regards to everyone. She seemed very happy to hear all the wishes I conveyed from her blog. So, thank you!
ps. Sorry, we did take pictures of a much happier Amar today but I decided to leave the camera with Nisa so that she could continue taking pictures of Amar in hospital. We'll update with more pictures as soon as they become available.

Hi alun,
I am so sorry to hear about Amar, alhamdulillah, he's doing much better now. I just read your email an gave your blog a check. I haven' been online myself due to food poisoning. What is the outcome of the diabetes tests? And how is Sarah coping? How are you coping?

semoga cepat sembuh. after 4 days we were away, banyak juga yang berlaku. nampk dia dah senyum dan gembira.... he is recovering well.
Sorry to have missed what you've both been through with Amar's finger abscess. Alhamdulillah that he's getting better after the surgery.
Glad to hear that he is recovering well. Did the Dr say why it happened in the first place? This is the 3rd time right? :)

alhamdulillah i think amar is actually recovering well post-op. i was scared of post op complications like pain or nauzubillah infection. tapi so far so good.
nisa called this morning saying that the surgeons may let her go home today or tomorrow depending on their inspection of amar's surgical wound. also, they are waiting to see whether the pus sample they took grows any bacteria and if the antibiotics amar currently taking is adequate.
personally, i'm abit skeptical about the diabetes picture. for one there are no history of diabetes in our family, and amar has never showed signs of diabetes. also, for a diabetic person to produce a wound like amar, they have to have diabetes for years and years.
my personal theory why the finger was infected is - amar is teething and has sharp incisors. he constantly puts his fingers in his mouth, so maybe he ?bit himself? but otherwise, we're all puzzled why it happened.
Jue asked how sarah and I are coping, insya allah it'll be a subject of another blog.
sarah has been very brave indeed. although she asks about mama sarah & amar, she doesnt cry or demands to see them. she's also sleeping at night okay even without her mother. as for me, im hungry and sleep deprived! (joking).
