Giant's Causeway
The lunar landscape
I am very sure there are many interesting spots that we could visit in Belfast. Somehow, Giant's Causeway was mentioned time and time again as a must visit place. Reaching Belfast City was already a reward for my family, visiting Giant's Causeway was a bounty!
It was a 1.5hrs journey from Azim's place. Three quarters of the journey was on a motorway and the rest on a snaky single carriageway. Naufal was sick and got Sarah going too. Atuk said the trigger was the apple. Hence, the real culprit was me. I was the one who gave Naufal the apple. Oh dear.
In 2005, Giant's Causeway was named as the 4th greatest natural wonder in the United Kingdom. For those who are interested to know more on the history can click here.
To get to the main attraction, we either have to go by foot or take a bus provided by them. No other public vehicles were allowed. As you can see in the photo above, we walked the mile down hill (luckily) to see the rock formations.
We also managed to see pillars of rock resembling a pipe organ.
We also climbed up the hexagonal columns including Sarah! Amar wanted to join in the fun too. So, Atuk carried him half way up.
The view was breathtakingly spectacular. No word can actually match the experience we had that day.
As we were not properly attired for cliff climbing and the 'extra baggages' we were carrying, we didn't explore the whole place. So we missed some other features like the Giant's boot and the honeycomb. We didn't mind that, of course.
On the way back (up) to the main entrance, we cheated and took the bus. So we saved some energy and time.
I was so glad that Sarah and Amar really behaved well on the bus. We stopped by the souvenir shop. We bought some fridge magnets (hint*hint* Auntie De, ada habuan untukmu!) and had tea and Irish scones at the restaurant.

I've missed your blog! You have been MIA for a week now. I would log on nearly everyday just to check out for new entries. But it is for valid reasons, no one can be a better menantu than you :)
I love the pictures you posted, they're beautiful. And Dr Azim is so lucky to have a doting wife backing him up all this while. Will he be staying on in Belfast?

Sarah panjat, kitorang yang takut dia jatuh. that's why in that picture in the end all of us climbed as well. unfortunately the pictures we took doesnt really do the place much justice. for example, the rock formations are actually really2222 tall - around 15 metres tall. a fall would have been fatal (that is, if you drop into the sea or smashed your head on the rocks). we were smiling in the photos but some of us were scared (of falling) hehehe

KKL honestly, I made up about the 'irish scones'. but it did look and tasted different than the ones I've tasted over here. The scones there were fluffier and browner in colour. Here were drier and lighter brown or pale yellow.
izhal most photos during our trip to Belfast were taken either by my husband or my FIL. Yup Sarah in the 2nd photo. The hairstyle, I butchered her hair! Don't perli about liking the very short boyish cut. huhu...

FIL kata apple is not a friendly food during travelling. Probably the acid content yang i tak tahu nak explain. will get my FIL to explain.
I told Naufal's mum, she said NAufal memang kuat muntah sikit. and kadang2 tersedak bila makan apple yang ada kulit.
SArah pulak, tak boleh bau busuk. dia pun sama muntah. tapi the babah sempat bawa dia keluar dari kereta, muntah tepi jalan.
Si babah tak habis2 ketawakan Sarah because of Sarah;s expressions masa nak muntah tu. Kesian kanak-kanak tu!
