14 July 2006: Birmingham

As I'm writing this entry, Atuk and Nanny are on their way to Heathrow Airport. They are going back today at 12 noon. It seems to me the trip to Birmingham took place a very long time ago! Sorry, I'm very behind with my updating. But I had good reasons for that.

Back to our trip to Birmingham. I suggested going to Birmingham for shopping(!) seeing that both Sarah and Amar behaved very well the day before when we went to Coventry city centre. Babah had to work so we took a train, thinking that train is a more friendly and faster transport than a bus. The ride was alright. The kids didn't have time to throw tantrums as the journey took a mere 20 minutes.
The weather (topik wajib orang UK) was bright, but surprisingly it was windy and chilly! Luckily we brought along our jackets. We headed straight to the Bull Ring centre which was not very far from New Street train station.

Bull Ring was designed by Benoy; concept architects. It is a huge shopping centre that includes Selfridges, Debenhams as anchor on each side of the scheme and 138 other shops and kiosks.

I'm quite fascinated by its history. For those who are interested may click here where you will learn that the site began life in 1166!

Atuk and Nanny took the opportunity to shop for souvenirs. There are so many shops for the children too. This photo was taken by Atuk in The Bear Factory shop.

Sarah enjoyed herself very much at this "Hear Me" sound machine. Nanny (and Atuk) was never tired teaching and playing with Sarah (and Amar). And Sarah (and Amar) never stopped bothering Nanny and Atuk. I wonder where did they get their energy from?

As a reward for being such good children, I bought Sarah a tea set, and a V-Tech talking shape toy for Amar from Early Learning Centre. It was a great outing for us. I hope Atuk and Nanny feel the same way too.

I had to read the above comments very slowly as I didn't want to become IL from trying to differentiate a MIL from a FIL to a BIL and a SIL.

Juruhnya (sgt baik) anak2!
20 mins in the train still in a good mood. I think you have successfully trained them to withstand long travelling trips. OK, K nisak, nnt senang2 dtg la Penang ya?

hiyoshi yes, may be you should take it easy :)

dyanna juruh? dok lah. Tapi bulehlah setakat 2-3 minit duduk diam. Pah tu gak, sibuk kena ready susu or sweet to keep them quiet. Tapi sebenonya, Sarah and Amar memang OK jugalah compare ngan zaman dulu2.

KKL Hehe. funny kan? PAstu my MIL kata, the design yang ada that aluminium/silver bulat2 thing: the shape of the whole thing macam backside of a bull. Laaa... tak perasan pulak.

yus Nampak je cantik yus. M&FIL dah balik awal pagi tadi. Flight pukul 12. Kesian gak kat sarah sebenarnya.

it's a nice shopping centre (but not as nice as midvalley or the sunway pyramid to be honest) and my favourite store there is the Apple store - you know, where they sell ipods, imacs and ibooks etc. apart from that there's also a Yo Sushi (which is much like sushi king in malaysia, complete with a sushi conveyor belt).

Bullring is a nice place to travel for shopping
