Sundeep's Wedding: 28 May 2006
We were privileged to be invited to our neighbour's wedding. It was very colourful and jubilant.
The programme on the invitation card reads as the following:
At Gurdwara Guru Nanak Parkash (Sikh Temple) (Hall No. 3)
9.00am Reception of Barat
9.30am Milni & Tea
11.00am Anand Karaj
At Sports Connexion, Leamington Road, Coventry
2.00pm Lunch
5.00pm Doli from Residence
I was thinking, it might not be suitable for us to be at the temple. I thought it must be their 'akad nikah' sort of thing. So, we skipped the morning events.
The afternoon session; we arrived home from Stratford just in time for the lunch ceremony at the Sports Connexion. But we skipped that one as well, because we thought of attending the last event which was just a few steps away.
We were all dressed in our baju kurung raya. Including Sarah and Amar. We went to our neighbour's house clueless and didn't know the seating arrangement and all. So we bunched together in the front living room with other ladies.
Then the mum and dad came to greet us and said that we should have attended the lunch at the Sport's Hall because that final event was just 'giving away' their daughter sort of ceremony.
We got to see the bride, Sundeep in her room. Pretty in red. Her elder sister was there to in glittery blue sari. Sundeep and her husband will have their honeymoon in Mauritius and Dubai. How nice!
The event just reminded me of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai - the wedding ceremony.
Then, we witnessed the arrival of the bridegroom and his kuncu-kuncu. They were stopped and blocked at the front gate. The bride's side asked for money before they let them in. This is so similar to some Malaysian wedding ceremony too, right?
But have you seen the bridegroom's gangs brought along with them waterguns and shoot at the bride's family?
Well, they did! It was funny.
It was just a short visit but a memorable one.

auntie de ha tulah, pastu both of you melarikan diri ke UK pulak!
ya Syeikh mabruk! banyaknya nak kena blog ni! masuk list.
di dah kaum kerabat hindustan.
Emmm teringat citer Hindi plak. Smlm baru terbaca paper Kajol dah berlakon semula after 5year rehat..
Syok kan tgk their traditions and culture. When my brother married my sis-in-law pun ada pasang lagu hindustan, pakai baju pakistan cantik-cantik, tarian hindustan, duduk atas buaian berbunga..etc.. Macam film hindustan. I guess the Pakistani pun sama sikit-sikit dgn hindustan.
