Warwick
Part of Warwick Castle
The hidden tower
Babah was away for a week. He was on long day oncall. I think Sarah missed him a lot. Especially because all three of us just stayed at home the whole week. To make it worse, I didn't let her play outside in the backyard. (For one, she didn't ask to play outside) Mainly because the construction work by our next door neighbour. I was worried if the slates or bricks fell in our side and hit the children.
On Thursday, both kids must have caught some kind of virus. Amar didn't sleep well with blocked nose. Sarah batuk. But despite the illnesses, both were still able to play as usual. Only Amar had problems to sleep properly.
When Babah came back from his shift, both Sarah and Amar were so happy. Sarah laid out a must do plan over the weekend.
- Nak ah-kim. (ice cream)
- Nak gi Anels. (McDonalds)
- Nak gi abaks. (Starbucks)
- Ah-Ko (Tesco)
- Nok Ducks (Tengok ducks)
So far, we have given her an ice cream, Babah took her to Starbucks and I have taken her to Tesco. This morning, she woke up and said,
"Sagha nak gi Anels rasa."
So we thought of going to Warwick Castle (I've been hinting to go there many times, so finally...!!!) and have lunch at McDonalds.

We reached Warwick Castle without much problem, except for Amar accidentally muntah in the car after his bottle of milk.
We had to walk uphill to get to the castle. It was clearly signed, and there were some benches for those who need to take a rest.

Not even half way up, we saw this purple flower that reminded me of Bunga raya. Babah was busy snapping photos. When Sarah suddenly said 'Asuk' (Busuk) and gave a loud burp and muntah. Oh dear!
Poor kids, and poor Babah thought it was his driving that made them sick! The castle must be on a very huge ground as we couldn't see it at all. It was well hidden! But we could see between the ancient trees and fences of tall plants that there was a beautiful garden with fountain.
After a 5-10 minutes walk, we reached the entrance. We were greeted by the couple above playing some sort of a guitar and a kompang (ah?) and a knight on a horse and a lady holding leaflets (ah?)
In Babah's account, he has already mentioned that we didn't enter the Castle. We went to the town centre instead, which was only within walking distance.
I just love the architecture of the houses around the castle. Especially the Tudor and Victorian type. Although Warwick is neighbour to Coventry, but one could feel that the atmosphere is definitely different there. I think I like Warwick a lot!!!
We didn't see any McDonalds in the town centre. But there was a Shihan Restaurant with Japanese menu.
Hmmm... must save money.
must save money.
must save money.
We went in for lunch.
The food was of good amount and very well presented. But with all due respect to the Chef, I think Babah's sushi lagi sedap.
I had Yaki Soba with Prawns

This was what Babah had: Salmon teriyaki with rice

Actually I enjoyed the food. Sarah ate quite a lot too. As usual, she sat next to Babah and moved next to me the minute after. This time Amar was sleeping 3/4 of the time we were at the restaurant.
Sarah was eager to use the chopsticks. Although not perfect, she was actually quite good. She managed to grip the food and transferred it into her mouth.
Amar woke up towards the end of our meals. I managed to feed him Babah's salmon teriyaki and rice. These were the faces he gave when he had them.

I can assure you he was not crying. Recently he loves to pull his face that way to make us laugh. (Probably to scare the girls away, huh Uncle Pycno?) Just imagine he put a straight face, and suddenly open his mouth widely. And serious straight face again. And nganga again and again and again. I think he's exercising his face muscles.
We have all enjoyed our trip to Warwick. Definitely a must go again in the future. When we returned to our car, Sarah asked a few 'clever' questions. One of them was "Sagha belum nok ducks lagi."
O-oh!

Assalamualaikum
hehehe.. kelakar la sarah and amar.
Lovely outing, yet, again!
And those sushis! *drools*
Amar minum air apa color hijau tu? Kiwi juice? :p
I love your blog and I have been reading it almost daily. Sometimes kalau nak carik idea masak/makan pun, your blog is kind of a good source. Teriyaki tu ...*drool*. I ada satu soalanlah, I memang suka teriyaki dishes. Tapi tiap kali I nak beli teriyaki sauce , mesti ada "mirin" or "sake" as one of the ingredients. As you may well be aware of, benda2 ni kan alcohol. You tahu tak kalau ada kedai yang jual teriyaki sauce yang alcohol free?
I went to see Warwick Castle a long, long time ago (way back in 1981 or was it 1982?) with Dr. Nik Ishak.
Unfortunately, I've forgotten whether I've actually gone to the town centre or not.
Well, Amar can sure scare all the girls away with that kind of pose, but my feeling is that he's only going to give the sweet dimpled smiles that would melt the hearts of all the 'weak-in-the-knees damsels'!!
simah tu lah. babah sarah's writing is always better. i pun copy je.
auntie de ya mujur kelakar. banyak juga benda yang i tapis sebab nak elak memalukan anak2 di masa hadapan.
DITH hehehe, sebenarnya amar minum air kosong, tapi botol dia warna hijau.
anonymous thanks for reminding us about teriyaki sauce containing alcohol.
pardon me if my knowledge on food sounds shallow, tapi i rasa, nak buat teriyaki sauce tak semestinya kena beli teriyaki sauce. cuba guna kikkoman soy sauce and lots of spring onion.
kedai makan pulak - kat malaysia i tak sure sangat. tapi kalau kat sini, it's already a norm for us to ask for non alcohol dishes.
kedai macam Wagamama best sebab dekat menu dia ada description of ingredients they use.
Also, you might want to try a Japanese restaurant di Nottingham. The Chef is Muslim Malay, (kan auntie de kan?)
pycno haha.. amar will have to go on a 7 hari 7 malam trip with me if he dares to smile at any girls.
Lovely pictures! Sarah n Amar are so cute ;)
ifos aaahh malunya! a praise from a good photographer.
anyway (to reply your comment in previous entry) best of luck in your exams! and good luck making the iced berries haha walaupun i don't think you need much of them (luck)anyway.
mama sarah:
Sedapnye namapk makanan tu... Btw, Saghah suka apa kat Starbucks? Caramel Frappe ke? :)
Amar boleh masuk drama la.. Expression muka dia - priceless!
Mama sarah pula boleh buka cooking school and Papa Sarah boleh buka clinic! :P
Cantik la Warwick Castle!
SEbenarnya starbucks tu a small coffee shop dalam kedai borders. kita selalu pergi kedai buku tu.
tapi entah macam mana panggil kedai tu "starbucks".
selalu beli hot chocolate. tapi recently beli mango frappe
Wahh... terer Sarah guna chopsticks :)
How does the castle(s) look inside?
mama sarah, we have Starbucks in M'sia too!
crimsonskye sarah rajin tiru babah dia guna chopsticks.
we didn't go in the castle. may be next trip.
sherin i know that! But I don't think I'm going to encourage her to be a regular.
1. mahal.
2. banyak option lain
3. hopefully dapat ajar pergi kedai buku sahaja
