Belfast City
In the bus towards
Birmingham International Airport
Birmingham International Airport
We were scheduled to leave for Belfast on 2 July 2006 at 12.40pm. While Atuk and Nanny's flight was at 1.30pm by a different airline. We went there to visit Uncle Azim's family. Uncle Azim is Babah's second brother.
Everything went quite well that morning except for, Sarah was not feeling very well. She had tummy ache the night before. She woke up at least three times during the night. I almost decided to stay back with the kids and cancelled the journey.
But we went ahead with the plan. I prayed hard hoping Sarah would not cry during the journey. She didn't! We kept her occupied with sweets (whoops), colouring book and a book of 500 stickers. Sarah was excited everytime she saw a plane. Waving vigorously at every plane and said "Wait for Sarah!"
We sat next to each other on the plane. Babah by the window, Sarah in the middle, Amar on my laps on the aisle. Babah kept Sarah occupied on the plane too. He explained that the plane would go very fast during take off. Sarah enjoyed that part very much!! She held Babah's hand so tightly but with a smiling face.
She enjoyed the landing too. I have never felt any smoother landing than that. Amar cried a little bit when the plane took off, but soon slept when we were on air and for the rest of the journey. Upon arrival, Uncle Azim was waiting for us at George Best Belfast City Airport. He then immediately took us to his house.
There, Auntie Sal (Uncle Azim's wife), Auntie Aisyah (Auntie Sal's sister), Naufal and the newborn twins greeted us.
Not long after that, Uncle Azim went out again to fetch Atuk and Nanny while we enjoyed the most delicious chicken curry prepared by Auntie Sal and Auntie Aisyah.
The last time we met Uncle Azim's family was around a year ago, when Naufal was one year old and learning to walk at our house! Now, he can run, jump, dance and that signature walk of his was so funny! He walked in small steps, on the tips of his toes with both hands curved up like chicken wings. Even Sarah was tempted to immitate that walk.
We learned a few tips how to differentiate the two twins; Iffah and Ulfah. Iffah has a birthmark just above her forehead, but hidden by the hair. Ulfah is slightly smaller than Iffah. Iffah has rounder cheeks, Ulfah's oval. (I hope I still have the correct details)
After Atuk and Nanny had their lunch, we went out for a walk to Botanic Garden and Queen's University, Belfast. The kids had a great time at the University's front lawn. They were so happy to get the whole lawn to themselves and busy chasing each other.

Do I look like a tourist?

Our visit to Botanic Garden had to be cut short because it started to rain. We only managed to visit this statue of (Lord) Kelvin, I believe the physicist/scientist who developed a temperature scale.
A glimpse of Botanic garden
Atuk and Nanny who were still under the influenced of jetlag slept very early that night. They didn't even hear the kids jumping, playing and shouting! They must have been VERY tired.
