T-time!
The beginning
Borrowing D's words, it was a visit long awaited. We paid them a visit finally, after receiving the long awaited parcels. D invited us over for English Tea. We were so excited beyond words! Especially Sarah.
I had to keep on reminding her that we were going at 3pm, and she asked me every 5 seconds, "Dah 3 o'clock ke belum?" I made sure that Amar and Sarah have their afternoon naps earlier than usual. So that they were up by 3pm. We didn't want to be late for our first visit. Good first impression matters very much.
We walked to D's house. (So you can imagine how close it is!) It might have taken us only 5 minutes but at Sarah's pace, it took us 10 minutes or so. But it was fine. The weather was good.
The English Tea
D has stretched herself at preparing all sorts of tea snacks for us. When we arrived, the food was all laid out nicely on the table. There were at least four different type of food! Her children were decorating the home-made biscuits with colourful icings. I was so impressed with everything and I kept on making mental notes on how good D was. Even better, the food was served on Denby tableware! Yes, be very jealous.
I'm definite now that she is a very good cook. She has done her research well and she has even involved her children with the tea party. I was the one who didn't bother to make extra effort to bring 'English' buah tangan (oh malunya!).
The curious children
Also upon arrival, my children have really made themselves at home! Sarah straight away climbed up the stairs, while Amar went into the second reception room. Both tried to ransack D's house. I was really worried that they would break D's collection of antiques. D was so cool (sporting) when Amar started to juggle with the satsumas. There were loads of toys, but he still chose to play with the fruits.
I pledged and swore so many times that I was not going to D's house again until I train my children to behave themselves. But I think I will not resist if we were invited again to have another round of English tea!
Forgetful
Babah has reminded me early in the morning to bring along the camera. I thought I have instructed my head to remember too. But alas, I still forgot. How am I supposed to blog without photos? I think the best way is to redirect all of you to D's blog, where she has beautifully written about the day. And you will get all the precise details of the menu.
Or perhaps, I should be naughty and pinch one of her photos?
The Parting
Not only that D has prepared all the delicious delicacies, she has also kindly sent us all home by car! When we reached infront of our house, Sarah invited D's daughter, Princess inside. Obviously, she likes Princess very much. D let her daughter to stay for awhile and agreed to come and fetch her later.
Sarah was elated! They were both playing happily together in the living room. Not long after that, Babah got home from work, and 5 minutes later D arrived to fetch Princess. It was a very short stay, Sarah was not happy to let Princess go home. She started to cry, wail, bawl (you name it!) in the living room. It was a little embarrassing but I am taking it positively that she is showing some positiveness on making new friends.

Thank you so much D for your special treat (and the photo I nicked from your blog!). We have really enjoyed ourselves at your house. And yes, we should do this again... soon!

wallaaa... good food, good friends.. miss those times when my close frens were here(pack my fav food for me). hhmm.. most ladies are very busy over nothing lately (here in vietnam).. no more pot lucks & gatherings.. dunno why..
ha ha.. i miss others' food actually. tak reti + malas nak masak lor..
1. DD haha kelakar 'gangguan emosi' tu. I might have to go through that as well once we go back to Malaysia for good nanti.
Thanks for inviting us over to your house. Tak sangka dapat 'jumpa' balik with old mates sebenarnya.
2. Kak Gee Saya rasa tu lah sebab kami jarang 'bertandang' rumah jiran tetangga kat sini. Dulu-dulu sebab Sarah yang masih kecil. Sekarang ni pulak, Sarah dah agak boleh tahan tapi Amar pulak yang pegang sana, pegang sini!
3. Cikdinz Ya betul tu. Tapi bab Sarah nak 'adik' tu, Princess tu dah umur 6 tahun lah!
4. Kak Elle Wow English tea at M&S in S'pore! How posh is that??!!
5. Mulan "Busy over nothing" i wonder what that is. hehehe.
what a coincidence that you and D are actually living in the same neighbourhood! what a small world eh.
I'm curious though - what are you guys doing at London?
kids will always be kids. no worries coming here. janganla serik, must do more often!!!
salam,
padanlah saya pelik nape entri ni pelik semacam..baru perasan tak de gambar :D.
ha, lenkali mesti letak kamera tu depan pintu rmh sblm keluar tau..tak ler lupe.
Impressednya saya ngan D, rajin tul memasak...sedap2 tu. untung Mama dpt neighbour mcm D ni :D
mamasarah yes if u go to M&S at Centre Point they have a cozy corner for tea:)
7. Dinah We are not in London. But somewhere near Leicester, remember?
D is a phd student. Her husband is working here. (I hope she doesn't mind me saying) I'm a SAHM and hubby is working near Northampton.
8. D Tak delah serik. TApi gerun bila anak2 I tu start pegang your barang2 berharga. PEcah or rosak, macamana nak ganti!
9. Kaklong Memang beruntung sungguh! Bab camera tu, memang salah diri sendiri. PAdahal dok ingat, kena ingat bawa flash. SD card ada kat computer. Body kena bungkus elok2. Akhirnya lupa jugak!
10. Kak Elle I can't imagine myself hanging out at M&S in Malaysia. Mampukah saya???????
mamasarah...
I had it b4 not that pricey considering its earls grey...hehe ....when I was in Perth had same thing afternoon tea with the usual scones etc much more expensive than sg...
so far I went up to KL don't they have the cozy corner in any of their S&M outlets.
panggil org dtg makan2 ni berkat.. syukur dapat jiran yang macam D, semoga persahabatan kekal berpanjangan.
Time buat phD ni zone paling tak stabil. D kalau stress masak ke?.. cuba mama sarah confirm kan.
Maaf ye D, sy hanya bergurau. Sy dulu kalau tension kemas rumah.
:) so heart warming to read...:)
idham
lagi tersasar tajuk...
mama sarah.. tak murah mana pun... n the trip has to start frm msia.. not frm here... :( buang masa jer tunggu promo nih..
I really miss scones and clotted cream that you can easily get it from Tesco and Asda.
Unfortunately, clotted cream is nowhere to be seen here, and the Ozzies eat scones with whipped cream. It doesnt feel right, and I better say, it doesnt feel nice too.
The scones here are a bit soggy and doughy. But, dah tak ada tu, pejam mata sajalah.
And till now I still couldnt find the finest indian cuisine which you can easily get it in the UK ( yummy chicken tikka masala, with thick and creamy sauce ). I have been to a few indians and the tikka masala did not taste the same ...
Haiya ...!

Nisak:

Seronok ada jiran Msian, kami kat sini tak ada jiran org Msia. Belah kiri Deutcsh dan sebelah kanan Romania..Eikk tak de geng pompuan nak makan2 or borak2..
M&S ada kat KLCC aje rasanya, kena duduk area KL ler kalau nak selalu lepaking minum2 english tea di M&S..hihihi. Kopitiam mcm dith ckp etc.. 'Resepi Rahsia', Starbuck, CofeeBean dll ada banyak aje..hihihi Jgn Risau.
dith,
saya seriau nak gi kopitiam. banyak 'penggamit'
nnydd
12. Kak Elle SEtakat Earl Grey, boleh beli Twinings Tea :)
13. Faruha Bila anda stress, jemputlah ke rumah saya :)
Saya tak boleh confirm about D. Sebab yang nyata D punyai natural talent untuk memasak masakan yang hebat!
14. Idham :)
15. Ju Apa websitenya? Ticket valid berapa bulan? KAlau beli single from here? and come back with a return ticket, tak mau ka?
16. Rini long time no see! Do you have the perfect scones recipe? I can never tell a good one from a bad one. Unless it's keras macam batu!
Where I live, Curry and tandoori are more popular than Fish & Chips. So don't go ordering F&C here.
17. DITH Lepak kat Kopitiam eh? Only after I get a round of Ketam in Kerteh with OK & KKL, Mee Calong and Soto at your place, baru pi Kopitiam!
18. Azie Saya ingat ada a few M&S di Malaysia. Tapi kalau masuk pun - cepat aje keluar balik! Gerun tengok harganya.
Harapnya kami tak jadikan habit bertandang ke Starbucks atau Coffee Bean etc... Minum kopi MuOr (macam Yus!) lagi best. hihi.
19. Nnydd Hey you! Sepi tanpa berita.
What is 'penggamit'? I checked Malay-English dictionary,
gamit - no match
penggamit - no match
menggamit = beckon
(s0, penggamit ialah one who beckons? tak paham lah!)
maaf ye Ajzie... terlanjur ada sebut pasal 'Starbuck'... just to share info, Starbuck is a company owned by Israel, you can imagine where the money goes !
I'll check whether I still have the website link about that.
22. Faruha Thanks! M&S pun sama!
Nydd:
Where are you staying now? Bukit Sekliau? Tok Sira?
Sejak bila ckp bahasa Indon ni?
24. DITH I checked with Indonesian dictionary too, still no match. Apa maksudnya ni????
MamaSarah tumpang lalu..hihihi..
Faruha
Takper...Saya just info about the kopitiam aje.
P.s
Ya lah MamaSarah...saya kat Msia pun minum kopi cap KapalApi aje. Tapi tak de ler selalu sgt pun..sekali sekala aje..Tak minat kopi..hihihi.
