Barbecue and Farewell: 4 June 2006

Ever since we arrived at Auntie and Uncle De's house a couple days back, they have been setting plans on what to do during our stay at their house.

"Hari Ahad nanti, balik lewat-lewat sikit eh? Kita barbecue dulu"

Barbecue it is.

Let's get the party started

Babah and Uncle De (and oh! that pink shirt again!)

On the grill.

Auntie De has carefully marinated some lamb and chicken in special and carefully selected ingredients. Soaked at least over night. There were some satay, 2 sea bass and some prawns too.

To accompany the meat, there was also some salads with croutons tossed in the finest dressing.

For desserts; Auntie De prepared fruity lemon jelly, Shangrila Hotel Drink (I can never remember the name!), and Babah also chipped in making some fruit salad.

Fruity tutty jelly (But later landed on the kitchen floor,
penangan the over eager demeanor Sarah)

The Shangrila Hotel Punch Drink was thirst quenching drink! And so sedap too. It was delicately prepared using cream soda drink, fruit juice and real fruits preferably pineapple and peach. (Is the recipe supposed to be a secret Auntie De?)

Punch-a-licious Shangrila Hotel Drink

Uncle De has also invited his best mate from Liverpool to join in the barbecue. They brought along a tupperware full of mini kuih kukus.

So there were lots of food!

Honestly, I'm not a barbecue type person. But not at Auntie De's. I'm not surprised though, with Auntie De's meticulous preparation, everything cut into perfection and delicately spiced and seasoned, no wonder we've all finished the whole lot.

The kids

While the adults were busy preparing the food, the kids were happily playing in the garden. Amar and Safiya managed to sleep for a while, so the mums got to busy themselves in the kitchen.

Dah penat makan, the kids watched a movie. Amar concentrated very hard. Sarah watched a bit while pretending playing with 'kain gendung' Auntie De. Pretending she was carrying a doll or was she pretending to be 'perempuan melayu terakhir?'

We went home at 8.30pm!!! Haaa tu lah, suruh balik 'lewat-lewat' lagi. Memang betul kita balik lewat.

We had such great fun at Auntie and Uncle De's place. They have been the perfect host. I don't think we could match their hospitality and kindness. Hopefully Allah will grant them the best dunya and akhirah.

Testing the comment box, or your taste buds? :P

I don't suppose this blog is also slowly converting to an online food review...? Just kidding. The food looks tempting (I haven't had breakfast yet!!!) and the kids are just too cute. I especially love the last three pictures of Amar and Sarah :)

p.s. Was there no substitute for the "fallen" fruity tutty jelly?
