Memorial Park: 22 April 2007
We've been to Memorial Park several times before. Help yourself with the short-cuts below for my previous entries on the park;
Our first time at the park and its brief history - 30 June 2006
The park's playground - 7 October 2006
Memorial Park in Autumn/Winter - 10 December 2006

Memorial Park in Autumn/Winter - 10 December 2006
Earlier that morning, we went to Stoneleigh Park. The scenery along the way was very serene for first timers like us. It was a stretch of woodland that reminded us of Sherwood Forest. When we arrived at where we thought was the venue, it felt and looked like the place is a private land. So we changed our plan and went to Memorial Park instead.
As usual, this park has never failed us. We were welcomed by rows and rows of copper beach trees that are sprouting new reddish leaves. You will see a similar scene of the park here photographed in Autumn/Winter, but with bare branches.
Most of the trees have a commemorative plaque of when they were planted and to whom they were dedicated to.

I asked Sarah to read one of the signs, and she managed to spell T-R-E-E. I was busy taking her pictures and forgot to ask her what year it was planted, what type of tree it was and to whom it was dedicate to?
Amar slept when we first arrived. When he woke up not long after that, he immediately became very active and ran around as much as he can. In the photo above, Amar is doing some sort of his sitting dance, moving only the upper body and hands.
You will know from my previous entry that the War Memorial Park is Coventry's tribute to the soldiers from the city that lost their lives during the WWI. At the top of the Memorial is where you'll see a continuous glow of an amber light. I am pretty sure that it symbolises something.
The park also covers a huge area of land. Can you spot Amar in the above photo? (Please blame me for the bad photography) Amar just "ran away" from us. He loved the open space so much!
After the rescue mission, Babah introduced Amar to some new buds in this early spring.
The above must be the maze-like garden.
If you look at the above photo properly (or click on it to enlarge), you will see Babah in a semi-lying position taking a photo of Amar.
Apart from the big trees, there were also an area with little colourful flowers growing from the ground. Also a few trees that look like red-leaves bonsai trees.
Before we went back, Babah bought some refreshments for all of us. We sat down at the cafeteria and enjoyed the scenery with our drinks and light snacks.
